A masbuq forgetfully gave the salam to both sides

Question

If a masbuq or a munfarid forgetfully gives the salam to both sides, and then, remembering by himself or on someone reminding him, immediately stands up — while his chest is still facing the qibla — and completes the remaining rak‘a with sajda al-sahw, then according to the statement of Hazrat Mufti ‘Aziz al-Rahman ﵀ (Fatawa Dar al-‘Ulum Deoband) his prayer will be valid. However, some people of knowledge here say that if he gave the salam to both sides, the prayer must be performed anew.

Answer

If he forgetfully gave the salam to both sides although the prayer was not yet complete and some rak‘a remained, and then immediately — before turning his chest away from the qibla and before committing anything that invalidates the prayer — he remembered by himself or on someone reminding him, and completed the rest of the prayer with sajda al-sahw, then the prayer is valid.
