Writing the Qur’an in a Non-Arabic Script (Bengali)

Question

A local semi-learned scholar has written the Noble Qur’an in Bengali script together with a translation. At the beginning of it he states that these letters are for the Bengalis, but he did not clarify the word “Bengali” — whether Bengali Muslims are meant or someone else; this was merely a heading. On another page he wrote the word “Allah” in a special form/sign. When people inquired about this, the answer given was that this had been our own [possession], which the Hindus took.
