Reading the Holy Qur’an in Urdu

Question

Nowadays people are reading the Holy Qur’an in Urdu. Is it permissible to read and buy such an [Urdu] Qur’an, or not?

Answer

To write, print, sell and buy the Holy Qur’an purely in Urdu is not permissible. If, together with the original Arabic text, there is also a translation, then it is permissible.
