Writing the Qur’an and Hadith in the Oriya Language
Question
Here, apart from our own provincial language, Oriya, people generally do not properly know any other language. Most people are completely unfamiliar with any other language, and in particular are utterly unacquainted with Arabic and Urdu; therefore, despite being eager to learn the rulings of Islam, they are unable to learn them. For this reason, these people wish that the rulings and pillars of Islam and all necessary matters be published in the Oriya language, so that they may benefit from them.
Answer
The Noble Qur’an and the supplications of the hadiths may be written in their original Arabic script, while their translation, tafsir and explanation may be done in one’s own language, Oriya. This matter is mentioned in “Fath al-Qadir” and other books of fiqh. To write the Holy Qur’an purely in Oriya or in any other language (besides Arabic)
