Marriage to a Foster Maternal Uncle Is Not Valid

Question

A granddaughter (a daughter’s daughter) was married to her foster maternal uncle out of ignorance; afterwards it became known that he is her foster maternal uncle. The details are as follows: after the nikah, when the woman had already become pregnant, her maternal grandmother admitted in the course of a conversation that in childhood, when the husband’s mother was seriously ill, she had at that time suckled the boy. On this basis the husband is the foster maternal uncle of his wife. Was his nikah valid or not?

Answer

If, in the husband’s view, it is true that his wife is his foster niece (his foster sister’s daughter), then this nikah is not valid; let him separate her from himself immediately. Nothing should be inquired about the child before it is born. And if, in the husband’s view, this is false, then this nikah will not be called impermissible.
