Marrying the Daughter of a Milk Brother

Question

Shah Muhammad also drank the milk of the woman named Ghulam Fatima, the mother of Muhammad Ramadan: Shah Muhammad was six months old when Shah Muhammad’s mother died, and Ghulam Fatima, the mother of Muhammad Ramadan, whose milk Shah Muhammad drank, is Shah Muhammad’s full sister. Now Muhammad Ramadan wishes that Shah Muhammad perform the nikah and contract of his daughter with me. According to the Shari‘a, can Muhammad Ramadan marry Shah Muhammad’s daughter or not?

Answer

Although Muhammad Ramadan and Shah Muhammad did not drink Ghulam Fatima’s milk at the same time, but one before and the other after, according to the Shari‘a both became milk brothers. The ruling that follows from suckling at the same time follows equally from suckling at different times.
