Cooking meat without washing it

Question

Question: At an eatery here, meat is cooked without being washed, and there is a great deal of blood in it. When they are asked to wash it, they say that washing the meat will spoil the colour of the curry. Please tell us: if blood-smeared meat is cooked just like that, without washing, is it fit to eat, or is it haram, makruh, and so on?

Answer

When the blood has flowed out at the time of slaughtering the animal and a trace of it has remained on the meat, washing that meat is not necessary; that meat is pure. However, if separate, independent blood has got onto the meat, then it is necessary to wash the meat and purify it.
