Which end of the rope bed to sit on while eating

Question

Question: Zayd says that when sitting on a rope bed one should eat sitting at the foot end. Those who sit at the head end face toward the foot end, therefore this is disrespect to provision (rizq), and so eating in this way is impermissible. Is Zayd’s view correct?

Answer

By custom (‘urf) this is not regarded as disrespect to food; therefore it is not correct to call it impermissible.
