Eating Hot Food and Drinking Hot Tea
Question
Eating hot food has been prohibited, yet nowadays hot tea and hot food are customary. What is the ruling on this?
Answer
What has been prohibited is hot food that cannot be endured; hot food that can be endured has not been prohibited. Otherwise bread, curry and tea are all consumed hot, and cooling them changes their taste and properties. The same is the case with tea: after cooling it will no longer remain tea, but will become sherbet (a cold drink).
