Is eating sweets after a meal a sunna?
Question
Question: It is widely held among the common people that eating sweets after a meal is a sunna. How far is this correct; does it have any basis?
Answer
It comes in the hadith that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ liked sweet things. And for the most part his food was just this: he ate some dates and drank water; for several meal-times in a row there were not even dates. He would tie stones over his blessed stomach. Three new moons would be seen while no fire was kindled in the house.
