Rinsing the dish after eating and drinking (the water)

Question

Question: At a feast (diyafa), after finishing the meal, some venerable elders rinsed the plate from which they had eaten and drank (the water) themselves. Some people objected to this, saying that it is not free of karaha (disapproval). Does this act really deserve to be deemed disapproved (makruh)?

Answer

Some people who value the provision (rizq) of Allah more highly rinse the plate and drink (the water) with the intention that the portion stuck to the plate should not go to waste either. Emphasis on cleaning the vessel has come in the noble hadith, namely that whoever cleans the vessel, the vessel makes du‘a for him: “May Allah cleanse you of sins just as you have cleansed me.
