Taking Mosques’ Ewers and the Like to the Eidgah

Question

Since olden times, under the charge of the Nizam of Hyderabad, the practice here has been that on the occasion of the two Eids the mutawallis (trustees) and administrators of the Eidgah (the ground for the Eid prayer), with the permission of the mutawallis of those mosques where the Eid prayer is not held, take prayer rugs, vessels for ablution and the like from there for the worshippers, and after the Eid prayer return them there.

Answer

If the waqif made some waqf with the explicit stipulation that the items bought from its income — mats, vessels for ablution and the like — are to be taken to the Eidgah as well, then taking them is correct: [ar]لأن شرط الواقف كنص الشارع[/ar] “For the stipulation of the waqif is like the text of the Lawgiver.
