Using the Mosque’s Floor Coverings or Money for One’s Own Purposes
Question
May the imam himself, without any valid excuse, use some item of the mosque — for example, a floor covering or a cotton rug that is spread out — or its money, or not? May any person of the village take them on hire for a wedding and the like, or not? May a student use the mosque’s oil for his own purposes without any valid excuse, or not?
Answer
Neither the imam nor anyone else has the right to put the mosque’s floor covering, cotton rug and the like to personal use, nor is it correct to hire them out. Likewise it is not permissible for anyone to use the mosque’s money for his own purposes.
