Giving Impermissible Wealth to a Mosque and a Madrasa
Question
Can a person put the money he has from the income of trading in alcohol into some mosque, or some madrasa, or some other good cause, or not?
Answer
If the owners of the wealth or their heirs are known, returning the wealth is obligatory. If they are not known, he should spend it on the poor and the needy, whether they are students of madrasas or anyone else. Spending it on the mosque’s expenses or on the construction of a madrasa and the like is not valid.
