A Bequest and a Dream That Interest Money Be Given to the Mosque

Question

There is a mosque that is completely deserted, without an imam and without a muezzin. A certain respected Hajji who had interest money promised a man: “I will meet all the construction expenses of the mosque.” But a few days later the respected Hajji passed away. Now he came to that man in a dream and said: “For several days we have been suffering severe punishment, so take every last rupee of my interest money from my wife and put it into the mosque, so that I may be freed from this painful punishment.

Answer

Putting interest money into the mosque is not permissible. Even if the deceased comes in a dream and says so, it is still not permissible. As for the promise he made in his lifetime, fulfilling it after his death is not wajib upon the heirs, nor does anyone have the right to take anything from his estate by force.
