Giving a Mosque Money Collected for a Qawwali

Question

Some people collected donations to hold a qawwali (singing of devotional songs with music) and the like at a saint’s tomb; these include donations from Hindus as well. On the appointed date, when the time for the qawwali came, the current mutawalli (trustee) of the Waqf Board obstructed it through the police and said: “I will not let this take place.” Of the donations that had been collected, some of the money was given to a Hindu temple and some to the Jamiʿ Masjid (congregational mosque).

Answer

Since this money was given to the Jamiʿ Masjid with the consent and permission of the donors, it is valid to spend it on any need of the Jamiʿ Masjid at discretion.
