Wearing a Dry Impure Garment Does Not Make the Body Impure

Question

(1) If a person’s body is pure, and for some reason this person [puts on] impure clothes that are completely dry and look clean but are impure — if someone puts on this garment, does that garment of his which was pure become impure after putting [it] on? And is his body not pure until he performs ghusl? And can he pray during this time without ghusl or not? (2)

Answer

(1) The body is pure and dry, and the garment is impure and dry; because of it the body did not become impure. Then, without purifying the body, [the person] put on another garment; that garment did not become impure, and the prayer in it will be valid. There is no need to wash either the body or the garment: both are pure from the outset. (2)
