What Is the Ruling When a Wet Hand Touches a Dry Impure Garment?
Question
A man touched his impure garment with a wet hand — completely wet, with water dripping from it — and then touched the handle (valve) of a tap with that same hand. Then the handle became completely dry, and afterwards another man touched this tap handle with a wet hand and then a bucket, and with this bucket filled the hammam (water tank) with water, and all the worshippers performed wudu from this water. Is their prayer valid, or must it be repeated? Is wudu or ghusl with this water valid or not?
Answer
If, from a wet hand touching a dry impure garment, no trace of impurity appeared on the hand, then the hand did not become impure; neither the tap, nor the bucket, nor the hammam, nor the water — nothing became impure because of this, and no one’s prayer was spoiled. There is no need to repeat any prayer; wudu and ghusl with this water are all valid.
