For Clothing into Which Impurity Has Soaked, Washing and Wringing Once Is Not Enough
Question
If the actual impurity (‘ayn al-najasa) on clothing — visible or invisible: used water, or such impure water in which no trace of impurity is outwardly apparent — is removed, and then, taking pure water in some vessel, one puts the garment in, lifts it out once and wrings it, will it become pure or not? [In this case] a predominant belief (ghalabat al-zann) that the impurity has gone is also attained.
Answer
The impure water has fully penetrated this garment; now wringing it once is not enough. Let it be washed and wrung three times; then it will become pure.
