Washing Clothes by Machine and Chemical Agent
Question
In dry-cleaning shops clothes are washed not with water but with other agents; the details are as follows. There is a machine in which a liquid chemical agent is used; this agent cleans the clothes in the following way: when the clothes are put into the machine and the machine is closed, the machine starts working by itself or is switched on, and the agent, passing through a filter, keeps falling on the clothes until the clothes become wet and begin to drip (and the machine keeps washing the clothes).
Answer
A garment that has become impure becomes pure when its impurity is removed. One way of removal is this: the impurity was dry, like thick mani, and it was scraped off so that no impurity remained — then that garment too has become pure. If a pure garment got mixed with an impure one and the trace of impurity appeared in it, it too will be counted as impure (najis)
