Praying the fard at home and tarawih in the mosque
Question
A person who is regular in prayer and fasting, only in the blessed month of Ramadan, while arranging the tarawih prayer at his home, performs the ‘Isha’ prayer with a congregation right at home because of certain constraints, since usually, by the time he returns home from the mosque, the worshippers who pray tarawih with him remain behind in the mosque. In this case, does the threat (wa‘id)
Answer
This threat concerns those people who, out of carelessness and laziness, did not attend to the congregation. In the case asked about, if there is a constraint of the kind for which the Shari‘a has permitted leaving the congregation, this person does not fall under this threat. Abandoning the mosque congregation without a constraint is a great deprivation.
