Tarawih before the fard of ‘Isha’

Question

If a person has not prayed the fard prayer of ‘Isha’ and the tarawih congregation is in progress, may he join the congregation before praying the fard or not?

Answer

Praying tarawih before praying the fard prayer of ‘Isha’ is not correct: he should neither pray it alone nor join the tarawih congregation. Thus in al-Durr al-Mukhtar.
