Four rak‘as of tarawih with one salam
Question
The imam made the intention for two rak‘as and did not make the sitting (qa‘da) in the second rak‘a; the muqtadis reminded him, but the imam heard nothing and deliberately completed [four rak‘as]. Now we wish to know whether the prayer is valid or not, given that the imam omitted the final sitting, which was fard. The second thing we wish to know is whether, in such a case, two rak‘as of tarawih are counted or four rak‘as.
Answer
Because the sitting was not made after two rak‘as, these two rak‘as became invalid (fasid), but the tahrima remains, and the building (bina’) of two rak‘as upon it will be valid. Therefore, of these four rak‘as the last two rak‘as are valid.
