Ending the Four Sunna Rak‘as before Zuhr with Salam after Two
Question
A person made the niyya for four rak‘as of the emphasized sunna of Zuhr when the fard began. He ended with salam after two rak‘as and joined the congregation. Should he now, after the congregation, pray the remaining two rak‘as, or have the two rak‘as he prayed become nafl, so that he should pray four rak‘as anew?
Answer
In such a case he should pray four rak‘as. The prayer for which he first made the niyya has become nafl because of the salam after two rak‘as.
