Standing up at “hayya ‘ala-s-salah”
Question
In most places in Katihar the following manner of the iqama is customary: the mu’adhdhin, standing alone, begins the iqama while all the worshippers remain seated; at “hayya ‘ala-s-salah” the imam and the followers stand up, and at “qad qamati-s-salah” the imam makes the niyya (begins the prayer). In some places such strictness is shown over this manner that if anyone stands up before “hayya ‘ala-s-salah”, he is forcibly made to sit down. Can this manner be called sunna (masnun) and in accordance with Hanafi fiqh?
