When the followers stand during the iqama (another fatwa)
Question
At the takbir, i.e. the iqama, when should the followers stand for the prayer: at the beginning of the takbir or at “hayya ‘ala-l-falah”?
Answer
If, at the time of the iqama, the imam comes from behind the worshippers — for example from the ablution pool or the ablution area — then each row the imam reaches should stand, so that by the time he reaches the imam’s place all the rows have stood.
