Announcing the prayer over a loudspeaker five minutes before the adhan

Question

If, five minutes before the Fajr adhan, with the intention of waking people for the prayer, “as-salah” (the prayer) is called out over the mosque loudspeaker, is this correct or not?

Answer

The adhan itself is given precisely for this purpose. If [calling] “as-salah” over the loudspeaker before the adhan is made a regular practice, the particular benefit of the adhan itself will no longer remain, and people will regard it, like the adhan, as an independent injunction of the Shari‘a; therefore one should refrain from it.
