Announcing after the adhan that fifteen minutes remain
Question
In the Dar al-‘Ulum the adhan is given over a loudspeaker, and the students have also begun to say that, fifteen minutes before [the congregation], an announcement should also be made that the prayer is ready or that the time of prayer has come. If this is accepted, will there be any defect or karaha (dislikedness) in it, or does it fall under bid‘a (innovation)? Whatever [the answer] is, please state it with references.
Answer
The adhan is given over a loudspeaker; people generally have a watch on the wrist or in the pocket; the interval between the adhan and the prayer is fixed; changes in the time are announced regularly; masha’Allah, everyone is attentive to the prayer and the congregation, and if by chance someone becomes heedless, his companions remind him.
