Takbir al-Tashriq after the Eid Prayer

Question

After Eid, the takbirs of tashriq — which have been abandoned in cities generally and in large villages where Jumu‘a is valid according to Hanafi fiqh — what do our scholars of Deoband say about this? [ar](عقب كل فرض عيني) شمل الجمعة، وخرج به الواجب كالوتر والعيدين، والنفل. وعند البلخيين يكبرون عقب صلاة العيد لأدائها الجماعة كالجمعة، وعليه توارث المسلمين فوجب اتباعه. ولا بأس به عقب العيد لأن المسلمين توارثوه فوجب اتباعهم، وعليه البلخيون[/ar] “(Following every fard ‘ayn [prayer])

Answer

The scholars of Deoband say the takbir al-tashriq after the Eid al-Adha prayer as well, and instruct that it be said. From the books of fiqh — Radd al-Muhtar, al-Bahr al-Ra’iq and others — the obligation (wujub) of takbir al-tashriq at this time appears to be the preponderant (rajih) view, because this prayer too is performed in congregation, even though it is not itself fard.
