The Khutba Adhan Inside the Mosque

Question

Mawlana Ahmad Raza Khan Barelvi raised the issue of the second adhan of Jumu‘a, [holding] that this adhan should be given outside the mosque. Hazrat Mufti Mahdi Hasan Shahjahanpuri ﵀ and Mawlana Mu‘in al-Din Ajmeri ﵀ wrote treatises refuting him, which are now unobtainable. Answer

For the adhan the best thing is that it be given at an elevated place in a loud voice, because it is for informing those who are absent: as far as the voice reaches, the stones and clods there will bear witness [for the mu’adhdhin], and Satan too will keep fleeing far away.
