The Place of the Adhan before the Khutba: Inside the Mosque or Outside

Question

(1) From what place, according to the Shari‘a, should the second adhan before the Jumu‘a be given? (2) What is [the ruling on] the second adhan being given in front of the khatib inside the mosque, near the minbar? And is [giving it] in front of the khatib outside the mosque a sunna or not? (3) In the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, was this adhan given inside the mosque or outside the mosque? (4) What is [the ruling on] this second adhan being given on the platform of the mosque? (5)

Answer

For establishing questions of fiqh there are four sources: the Book, the Sunna, ijma‘ and qiyas. Some questions are stated plainly in the Noble Qur’an, some in the noble hadith, some are established by ijma‘ and some by qiyas.
