The Second Adhan of Jumu'a

Question

There are two adhans for the Jumu'a prayer — what is their basis?

Answer

This is established from the generations whose goodness has been attested (al-qurun al-mashhud laha bi'l-khayr) and has been transmitted continuously (mutawarath); in the time of Hazrat 'Uthman ﵁ the consensus (ijma') of the Companions ﵃ on it had already been reached.
