The Place of the Second Jumu‘a Adhan

Question

If someone lays down the condition regarding the second adhan of Jumu‘a that it must be in front of the minbar, and insists on this with severity, what is the ruling of the Shari‘a?

Answer

Giving the second adhan in front of the minbar is sunna; adhering to it constantly is a cause of reward, and acting contrary to it is contrary to the sunna. [ar]ويؤذن ثانيًا بين يدي الخطيب على سبيل السنة[/ar] “And the second [adhan] is given before the khatib by way of sunna” (Radd al-Muhtar, p. 820).
