A joint funeral prayer for several deceased
Question
There are three janazas; two of them are male, but one is a child, and two are young or middle-aged. If someone leads the funeral prayer for all three together, is this correct or not? Will the funeral prayer be valid in this case? The second case: one is a young man and the other is a young woman. If the funeral prayer is performed for both of them in one place, will the prayer be valid, or should it be performed for each of them separately?
Answer
The best way is to perform the prayer for each one separately; but if it was performed for all of them together, it will still, without any doubt, be fulfilled: [ar]وإذا اجتمعت الجنائز فإفراد الصلاة أولى[/ar] “When several janazas are gathered, praying over each separately is better” (“Tanwir al-Absar”).
