The order of the Eid prayer and the funeral prayer
Question
If a janaza arrives on the day of Eid, what order should be kept between the Eid prayer, the funeral prayer and the khutba?
Answer
[ar]وتقدم صلاتها (أي صلاة العيد) على صلاة الجنازة إذا اجتمعا، لأنه واجب عينًا، والجنازة كفاية، وتقدم صلاة الجنازة على الخطبة، أي خطبة العيد، وذلك لفرضيتها وسنية الخطبة[/ar] “The Eid prayer is given precedence over the funeral prayer when the two coincide, because it is wajib on each individual (‘aynan)
