Performing the funeral prayer several times

Question

May the funeral prayer [for one deceased] be performed two or three times or not?

Answer

The funeral prayer is performed once, and no more. However, if the guardian (wali) of the deceased has not yet performed the prayer, but someone else has performed it, and the wali then wishes to perform it, he is permitted to do so.
