The Maqam Mahmud

Question

Kindly give a brief explanation of the Maqam Mahmud (مقام محمود, the Praiseworthy Station): is it in Paradise or on the plain of the Gathering (mahshar)? What particularity does it involve with respect to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?

Answer

The permission for intercession (shafa‘a) for the presentation for judgement that will be granted specially on the plain of the Gathering — that is the Maqam Mahmud.
