Aqiqa with a cow or a buffalo
Question
Question: May aqiqa be performed with a buffalo or a cow outside the days of sacrifice or not? For instance, if one young male buffalo is slaughtered on behalf of two sons and three daughters, or a whole young male buffalo is slaughtered on behalf of one son, will the sunna of aqiqa still be fulfilled or not? In this, for one child it will fall on the seventh day and for another it will not?
Answer
Allotting the aqiqa shares of two sons and three daughters in one buffalo or cow and slaughtering it is correct. Slaughtering a whole cow on behalf of one child is also correct. If the seventh day has already passed and it is some other day, it is still correct: the restriction to the seventh day is merely mustahabb.
