Aqiqa for several children with one buffalo
Question
Question: Must the aqiqa animal be a male or female goat, or may it also be a young male buffalo or a buffalo? For example, we have one son and two daughters; if a whole buffalo is slaughtered on their behalf, with two shares in the son’s name and one share in a daughter’s name, will it be valid or not?
Answer
If one buffalo or a two-year-old male buffalo is slaughtered as aqiqa on behalf of two daughters and one son, its aqiqa will still be valid; indeed, up to seven shares is correct. It is not required that it be a male goat.
