Aqiqa at the paternal or the maternal family’s home
Question
Question: What is the ruling if the child’s aqiqa is held at the paternal family home, that is, the house of the father and grandfather where the child was born, while the aqiqa goat is slaughtered at the mother’s family’s home, that is, the hometown of the boy’s maternal grandfather — given that the child’s father bears the expenses of the aqiqa wherever it takes place? Or should the aqiqa be performed where the child is present?
Answer
It is best (afdal) in the place where the child is, so that the time of shaving the hair and of the slaughter remains one and the same.
