Aqiqa for two children with one large animal

Question

Question: A man wishes to perform the aqiqa for his two sons. If he buys one large animal and slaughters it as the aqiqa for both sons, is that correct or not? Or will he have to find three more shares? Likewise, if during the days of sacrifice he takes four shares in a large sacrificial animal for aqiqa, and three shares are for the sacrifice, is that correct or not?

Answer

Performing the aqiqa for two children with one large animal is correct; there is no need to include other buyers as partners. If during the days of sacrifice four shares in it are taken for the aqiqa and three shares in it belong to those offering the sacrifice, then according to the Shariʿa both the sacrifice and the aqiqa will be valid.
