An aqiqa share in a cow outside the sacrifice
Question
Question: In an aqiqa during ʿId al-Adha there is no restriction to the seventh day; so is the restriction necessary during the rest of the year?
Answer
The restriction to the seventh day is mustahabb, not binding (lazim); whenever the opportunity arises, the aqiqa will be valid, provided that the remaining shares too are with the intention of drawing near to Allah (qurba). The aqiqa itself, too, is not binding; it is merely mustahabb.
