Several questions on the purity and impurity of the body and clothes

Question

(1) While I am in a state of impurity and wearing impure clothes, can I purify another impure thing, clothes and the like by washing them, or not? (2) Always, while washing my things or my clothes and the like, or after washing them, I have doubts whether I washed them three times, or did not wring the clothes out properly — and other doubts of this kind; or else I doubt that before starting to wash I did not say “Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim” and after washing did not say “Shukr Allah” (thanks be to Allah).

Answer

(1) You can, and by purifying them in the manner prescribed by the Shari‘a those things will become pure. It is not the case that, because you are impure, those things will not become pure even by washing and purifying them. (2)
