If Holi colour gets on clothing, is it pure or not?
Question
The Hindus splash colours during Holi (the Hindu spring festival of colours). If it falls on a Muslim and he purifies that garment observing the conditions, but the stain of the colour does not go away, will the garment become pure? And will prayer in it be permissible? It is widely held among the common people that a garment on which colour has fallen never becomes pure. Can prayer be performed in it?
Answer
As long as it is not known that there is something impure in that colour, it will not be called impure, although washing it is better in any case. If the mark of the colour does not disappear after washing, there is no harm in that; the prayer is valid.
