The Ruling When a Dog Licks from Syrup
Question
There was raw cane sugar in a vessel with syrup on top of it. A dog put its mouth into it and ate some of the syrup. So what is the ruling on this raw sugar — is it permissible to eat it or not?
Answer
If the syrup is solidified, then a little should be thrown away from the top, from the spot where the dog ate, and all the rest is pure. If, however, the syrup is not solidified but liquid, then all of it has become impure, and because of its contact the raw sugar has also become impure.
