Ghee Left Over by a Dog
Question
If a dog eats some ghee from the top of a vessel of solidified ghee, and the ghee amounts to several kilos, is it permissible to remove the ghee the dog has eaten from off the top and use the rest, or not? It is also widespread among the common people that a dog’s breath goes two and a half gaz (a unit of length, about a yard, ≈ 0.9 m) into the ground — is this correct or not?
Answer
In this way the rest of the ghee is pure. The notions of the common people are not necessarily based on the rules of the Shari‘a; many baseless things become widely known.
