The Ruling on a Well’s Water When a Non-Muslim Goes Down into It

Question

A Hindu man dived two or four times into a well. How many buckets of water should be drawn out of the well, so that people may begin to use the well’s water once it has become pure?

Answer

If he entered the well having himself performed ghusl, then there is no need to draw out any water. If he entered without having performed ghusl and become pure, and the presence of any impurity (najasa) on his body is not established, then as a precaution all the water of the well should be drawn out.
