Kosher Meat Slaughtered by Jews

Question

In London, meat that has not been slaughtered is sold in English shops. I have heard that in America, especially in Chicago and New York, Jews slaughter animals in their own way, and this kind of meat is called “kosher meat.” Is it permissible for a Muslim to eat this kosher meat or not? I belong to Ahl al-Sunna wa al-Jama‘a; kindly issue a ruling for me.

Answer

The better course is for you yourself to slaughter a chicken and the like and have it cooked. If this is not possible, and it is verified that Jews do the slaughtering and do not pronounce the name of anyone else along with the name of Allah Most High, then what they slaughter is also valid.
