An Animal Slaughtered by One Who Does Not Pray and Uses Intoxicants

The butchers in the small town of Nizamabad who slaughter buffaloes and other animals do not pray at all; they never even perform the Friday prayer. They use all intoxicants (palm wine, wine, cannabis, opium, etc.) without any restraint, and they are often seen lying intoxicated in the filthy drains of the bazaar and on the roads. And it is these very butchers, who do not pray and who use intoxicants, who slaughter buffaloes and sell the meat, and the common people eat it too.

This state of affairs is extremely regrettable and painful. There is a need to awaken religious awareness among them, and people of religion should give it their full attention. As long as nothing is known indicating that this animal was slaughtered by a non-Muslim, or that the Muslim deliberately omitted “bismillah” at the time of slaughter, or that he slaughtered in the name…
