An Animal Slaughtered by a Woman

Question

What is the ruling on an animal slaughtered by a woman? May she slaughter her own sacrificial animal with her own hand or not?

Answer

A woman may herself sacrifice her own animal; what she slaughters is valid: [ar]وحل ذبيحة مسلم وكتابي وصبي وامرأة[/ar] “The animal slaughtered by a Muslim, a person of the Book, a child and a woman is lawful” (“Kanz”).
